“Portrait of a rainforest, after Celia Paul”

“Portrait of a rainforest, after Celia Paul.” The woman in this painting has a serious expression but holds the outline of new growth. It is inspired, in part, by all the women who lead protests to unjust power. You can read a story attached to this painting here.

“Tiger”

“Tiger.” This painting was started in collaboration with my three-year-old nephew. He requested a tiger and helped paint the yellow body of it – resulting in some thick, fun texture. The background is layered in bright patterns.

“Tulip”

“Tulip.” A quirky bit of colour for a kitchen. Feminine and elegant, this painting also feels strong with its use of high contrast. The tulip is on the move, leaving the frame both at the top and grounded in the lower right corner. This painting has shimmering gold and rich texture in the tulip flower. It was on display at the O’Connor gallery in Chilliwack this Spring.

“Eucalyptus”

“Eucalyptus.” This painting was on display in Langley this Spring, as part of a Heritage exhibition, and so many people commented on how it grabbed their attention. It captures the heat and shimmer of the smell of eucalyptus on a hot day, one of my earliest memories. The girl’s head and the sun are both painted bronze and mirror each other.
