It is the size that surprises me
enough to resurface in nightmares
and tumble down a hill towards me.
Why do they blow it up so big?
It floats behind a news cast,
fills the entire front of our paper.
In truth it is microscopic, you know.
Even the humble dot “.” could remind us
that something is there, inside us.
Why do they blow it up so
big? Is it easier to face what we know,
control, by that same logic even
God is shrunk to the tiniest
name then blown away by the wind.
Imagination is a safety strategy.

Anyone with me on how odd it is to see a microscopic virus blown up so large? In short order it has become a familiar image in our daily lives. It’s a strange human coping strategy, changing the size of things!
