we’re coming back

Hello friends,

Last Lent I wrote of fallow ground. It seems prophetic, given that I took a full year away.

Fallow: (of farmland) plowed and harrowed but left unsown for a period in order to restore its fertility as part of a crop rotation or to avoid surplus production.

But now it is time for some wild Summer growth!

I hope you have stockpiled tea bags and coffee beans this last year as I have stockpiled words. 🙂 There is so much to catch up on – and to move forward with.

I am almost free from school. I am excited to hone my craft. These last years have reminded me that I have little to contribute practically to the world (despite trying to be good at construction, sewing, dishes, and cooking – it really isn’t very impressive). I would like to give you the one thing I can offer, which is in my words.

I would like to travel with you into a life where every moment is pregnant with grace. I would like to daily reclaim hope and faith; step out the door each morning into this beautiful, enormous world that breaks our hearts.

You can once again expect a weekly post (sometimes more!). We’ll start with revisiting a “theology of craft” I wrote back in 2015. It will serve as a sort of reminder of where we’ve been and a benediction on what is coming. Then we will take off on new adventures. My thoughts are currently revolving around art meeting culture meeting faith, life between cultures, how to live faithfully with desire, and capturing the everyday stories around us. If you have suggestions for this space, I would love to hear them!

You can expect an ad-free space soon! It has been a goal of mine for the past two years. As soon as I save enough cash to pay for it, you can kiss those horrible ads goodbye! My commitment is to offer the best I have here as a writer who is still growing in skill, and to welcome you into this virtual “home”.

You can expect news of other artistic endeavours – Lord willing, there is a podcast coming and a separate blog in the future (solely for stories!). Poetry is in the works, exploring my memories of growing up as child between cultures and worlds. Very soon, there will be an invitation for you to walk this creative journey with me by becoming a patron.

I can’t wait to take this journey with you! Let’s get started!
