A broken tulip

Today is Ash Wednesday.

Christians will wear smudged, gray crosses of ash on their foreheads with these words ringing in their ears, “dust you are, and to dust you shall return.”

Today is the gateway to my favourite time of the year. Lent and Easter are rich with traditions, symbolism, and hope. The messages of each are such that turns all the wisdom of the world on its head.

Today is the first day of Lent.
